TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Asia New Bay Area (亞洲新灣區) in Kaohsiung (高雄) marked a significant milestone on Monday (Jan. 19) with the beam-raising ceremony for the Asia Bay Smart Technology Building (亞灣智慧科技大樓), a project spearheaded by the Bureau of Industrial Parks, Ministry of Economic Affairs. The NT$2.6 billion investment aims to address the growing demand for space as the Kaohsiung Software Park (高雄軟體園區) approaches saturation.

Located on the A section plot by the harbor, the building features a three-level basement and 11 above-ground floors, offering over 10,000 square feet of industrial space. Upon completion in November, it is expected to attract more than 30 companies, create approximately 840 jobs, and generate annual output valued at NT$1.7 billion.

Chih-ching Yang (楊志清), the Director General of the Bureau of Industrial Parks, stated, "The beam-raising symbolizes the next phase for Kaohsiung's smart industry cluster, which will connect resources from Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung." The building is the first to break ground in the second-phase park, with its steel structure now fully installed and set for handover in the third quarter of 2027.

Simultaneously, sections B and C are undertaking investment attraction efforts to introduce more smart applications and emerging industry manufacturers. The Asia Bay Smart Technology Building is poised to become a pivotal hub for smart industry upgrades in southern Taiwan. Stakeholders anticipate that these developments will significantly enhance the region's industrial landscape.
