TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In response to a random stabbing incident on the Taichung MRT (台中捷運) that left several passengers injured on May 21, the Taichung City Police Department (台中市警察局) announced Thursday (May 23) a significant increase in security measures.

Starting immediately, 112 officers will be deployed daily to patrol the TMRT, ensuring the safety of its passengers.

This decision comes after the recent attack raised concerns over the rapid response capabilities of transit police. To address these concerns, the police department has committed to 100% patrol coverage on each train, with officers assigned to guard duties at the front and back.

Additionally, all Taichung MRT stations have been included in a key patrol route, with intensified patrol check-ins aimed at maintaining passenger safety.

The Taichung City Police Department's move to bolster security on the MRT reflects a strong commitment to public safety.

By deploying a significant number of officers and ensuring comprehensive patrol coverage, the department aims to restore confidence in the MRT's security and prevent future incidents. Passengers can now expect an enhanced security presence during their commutes as the city takes decisive action to protect its citizens.
