TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced a NT$10.5 billion budget to aid Taiwan's small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) in digital transformation during the opening ceremony of "Intelligent Asia 2024" at the Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) on Wednesday (Aug. 21).

Cho emphasized the robotics industry's strategic importance to national security, pledging full support to traditional industries and SMEs to strengthen the supply chain and boost Taiwan's economic power.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) recently reported that July's export orders reached $50 billion, the third highest for the month historically, driven by strong AI demand and marking five consecutive months of growth.

Cho stated that the government would continue collaborating with industries and introduce the "Trillion-Dollar National Development Program" (兆元投資國家發展方案) and the "National Talent Competitiveness Enhancement Program" (國家人才競爭力躍升方案) to position Taiwan as the "Asset Management Center of Asia."
