HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Peggy Chen (陳佩琪), wife of the former Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), tearfully shouted and demanded justice before officials escorted Ko back to the detention center from his father's funeral on Monday (March 10).
Ko arrived at the "Hsinchu City Funeral Parlor" (新竹市立殯儀館) at 8:53 a.m., delayed by traffic, missing the initially planned 8:10 a.m. arrival. During the family service, he delivered a eulogy for his father, Ko Cheng-fa (柯承發).
Ko expressed gratitude to attendees for their support during his challenging times, promising future thanks when possible. With 30 years of medical experience, Ko recalled his father's wait for him until the end, lamenting, "This will be my lifelong regret not being able to take care of you during this critical time."
Following Ko's speech, his sister, Ko Mei-lan (柯美蘭), wept nearby. As Ko departed at 10:16 a.m., Chen's emotional cries of judicial injustice resonated with supporters, who cheered for Ko and condemned perceived judicial persecution. Supporters were seen following Ko's vehicle, chanting encouragement.
