TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Railway Corporation (台鐵) plans to launch its new route for the popular tourism express train "Haifeng" (海風號) on April 11, connecting Nangang and Yilan and the "Shanlan" (山嵐號) train on April 19, traveling to and from the East Longitudinal Valley.
The new route for the "Haifeng" train aims to offer passengers a scenic journey along the Pacific Ocean, with stops at local towns such as Houtong (猴硐) and Dali (大里). Ticket sales for the new route open on March 11.
The train initially launched on Dec. 7, 2024, traveling between Hsinchu and Taichung. Known for its exclusive desserts made with local ingredients, the train quickly became a hit, often selling out. Passengers can look forward to a unique blend of luxury and cultural immersion as Taiwan Railway expands its offerings.
Meanwhile, the "Shanlan" train will feature gourmet meals from renowned private chefs prepared with local Hualien ingredients. Ticket sales start on March 19. The express trains, crafted from EMU500 electric multiple units, showcase changing landscapes and seasonal themes. These luxury travel experiences were designed to promote local revitalization.
