TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Dong Yuan Cereal Co., Ltd. (東遠糧業股份有限公司) and Taiwan Premium Rice Enterprise Ltd. (Taiwan Rice, 台灣優米實業有限公司) announced a milestone in Taiwanese agriculture on Tuesday (July 8). They have successfully exported premium Taiwanese rice to eight European countries, with an annual export volume of approximately 1,200 metric tons. The announcement came during a press conference attended by key figures, including Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善).
Li Yuan-hao (李元豪), Chairperson of Dong Yuan Cereal Co., Ltd., highlighted that the company collaborated with over 300 farmers cultivating 1,000 hectares. Taiwan's rice will reach markets in France, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and Germany. This development marks a significant step for Taiwan's rice industry, as the exports have exceeded the 600 inspections required by the European Union.
Hsu Hui-ying (徐惠瑩), Deputy Director-general from the Central Region Branch (中區分署) of the Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA, 農糧署), noted that Dong Yuan's main product to Europe has achieved ISO22000 and HACCP certifications, which meet EU quarantine and food safety standards.
Taiwan Rice emphasized that its marketing strategy focuses on high quality. The company plans to host tasting events and rice culture promotion activities to enhance consumer experience and cultural connection, thereby strengthening brand value.
