TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologist Wu Der-Romg (吳德榮) warned in a column for National Central University (NCU, 中央大學) on Thursday (July 10) of unstable atmospheric conditions over the next two days, forecasting showers and thunderstorms in the early morning across the windward western regions. Wu advised central and southern Taiwan to brace for potentially hazardous continuous rainfall.

Wu noted that weather conditions will clear by Saturday (July 12), with partly cloudy skies and scattered afternoon showers. July 13 promises clear and hot weather, with brief mountain showers possible in the afternoon. From July 14 to July 16, increased moisture will bring more frequent afternoon showers.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications’(MOTC, 交通部) Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) issued a heavy rain advisory for 11 counties, including Taichung City. Taitung County's mountainous areas and Dawu (大武) Township and Pingtung County's mountainous regions may experience localized extremely heavy rain.

Meanwhile, CWA added that Nantou County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Orchid Island (蘭嶼) face a high probability of heavy rain, while Taichung, Green Island (綠島), and Kinmen may see localized heavy rainfall.
