TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Shilin Official Residence (士林官邸), the former home of late President Chiang Kai-shek, hosts the 2026 CKS Shilin Residence Tulip Festival (2026士林官邸鬱金香展) from Thursday (Feb. 26) to Sunday (March 8). The festival features 26 tulip varieties and over 110,000 blooms under a romantic garden theme. The event marks the first flower exhibition following the Lunar New Year holiday, continuing Taipei's tradition of seasonal floral showcases.

Organizers imported tulips from the Netherlands and Japan, using advanced cultivation techniques and refrigeration to ensure the flowers bloom successfully in Taiwan's subtropical climate. The horticultural design features layered arrangements that enhance the display's aesthetic appeal and create visual depth throughout the exhibition grounds. The exhibition collaborates with Shilin Shennong Temple (士林神農宮), a historic temple dedicated to the god of agriculture, setting up a micro tulip exhibition in front of the temple. This setup allows visitors to experience the temple's atmosphere alongside the tulip display, attracting those seeking blessings for romance.

The temple hosts a limited-time check-in activity during the exhibition, offering participants black soybean burdock tea while supplies last. The festival coincides with the Taipei Lantern Festival (台北燈節) from Wednesday (Feb. 25) to Sunday (March 15), enabling visitors to view flowers during the day and lanterns at night. The tulip exhibition connects with nearby attractions, including the famous Shilin Night Market (士林夜市), the Tianmu Shopping District (天母商圈), and the Beitou Shopping District (北投商圈). These areas offer diverse options for dining, shopping, and entertainment for visitors exploring the area.

The exhibition brings together nature, culture, and community as a seasonal highlight for Taipei residents and tourists alike. Visitors can experience the tulips alongside Taipei's rich cultural heritage during this annual celebration of spring. The event offers a comprehensive celebration of spring in Taiwan, blending floral beauty with traditional festivities and local attractions. ◼
