TAIPEI (TVBS News) — LINE TODAY, a comprehensive information platform by LY Corporation, unveiled the top 10 news subjects of 2023 on Monday (Dec. 11). Entertainment news took the lead, primarily due to multiple #MeToo-related sexual harassment incidents involving Taiwanese celebrities.

The passing of Coco Lee, a Hong Kong-American Mandarin pop singer-songwriter, secured the second spot in the year's most-discussed topics. Meanwhile, the relaxed pandemic policies leading to a resurgence of various viruses claimed the third position.

Against a backdrop of global turbulence and uncertainty, LINE TODAY highlighted the Taiwanese public's heightened interest in international affairs. This conclusion stemmed from an analysis of comments and shares in the "TODAY Sees the World" channel, reflecting a significant engagement with topics such as foreign diplomatic visits, U.S.-China-Taiwan interactions, and wartime issues.

For the first time, LINE TODAY released the year's most popular polls and quizzes. "Leisure and Entertainment" and "Livelihood and Policy" emerged as the most cherished subjects. Among the favorite quiz categories were those related to Apple product enthusiasts, the president's monthly salary, and the popular basketball manga "Slam Dunk."
